Tullamore GP Bernadette Scully has appeared in Tullamore District Court just two days after being charged with the murder of her daughter, RTE News reported on Wednesday.
The 56-year-old didn’t speak during the short appearance,
and the court was told Ms Scully had been granted bail. Ms Scully was arrested by
Gardaí and formally charged with the murder of her 11-year-old daughter on Monday morning. The
charges relate to the discovery of the Emily Barut’s body at Ms Scully’s home
on Bachelor’s Walk in Tullamore, Co. Offaly on September 15, 2012.
The court was told that Ms Scully had been granted free
legal aid after Judge Catherine Staines accepted an application by defence
solicitor Patricia Cronin. The Judge remanded Bernadette Scully to appear
before Tullamore District Court again on March 11.
